Recently found the dome azimuth to be off by ~90 deg. This seems unlikely to just be an accumulated error and I feel that maybe the encoder or the connection to the dome pi might have temporarily stopped. If this is what happened we need to include some logic to raise an exception and stop the dome if a rotation command is initiated but no encoder ticks are being recorded.
