What's coming in BioJulia?
BioJulia will consist of a [core package](core features) of all the basic tools needed to be productive in biological data analysis along with an ecosystem of packages performing more specialised functions.
We will adhere to some basic principles:
BioJulia will be fast.
All contributions undergo code review.
We'll design it to suit modern bioinformatics and Julia, not just copy other Bio-projects.
When will X happen?
where X is the core library
We're starting work on this now (January 2014). No eta yet, but as we lay down the foundations we'll be able to make a projection.
where X is the package system
We'll focus on the core library first. The package system will be able to build on the tools in the core, so it makes sense to wait until the core API is relatively stable.
