Because of the lack of sampleID and lack of subplot information available in NEON API, there is currently no way of determining directly or searching which replicate samples are related to a given parent soil sample. Being able to pull and incorporate the parent sampleID (format "Site_Plot-Type-Subplot-Date), potentially as part of an alternative identifier of the format that the old sampleIDs for these classes were, would allow this and also make #552 really easy.
Currently low priority but can be bumped up if additional requests requiring this info arise.
