Use Case Title
Update the DES location for the element "Rural Residency Status"
Use Case Description
Expand the location of the following element in the Domain Entity Schema (DES)
Element: Rural Residency Status
Definition: A person who resides in a place with a population of less than 2,500 that is not near any metropolitan area with a population greater than 50,000, or in a city with adjacent areas of high density.
Option Set: Yes, No
Use Case Background
The Education-to-Workforce Indicator Framework recommends disaggregating data by Urbanicity at the pre-K, K12, postsecondary, and workforce levels to determine whether an individual or institution is located in an urban, suburban, town, or rural area. This helps identify opportunities for students, as well as challenges they may face.
The CEDS element "Rural Residency Status" is being used to calculate Urbanicity. To support the collection of this data for Early Learning, the location of this element in the DES needs to be expanded.
Location of Element in the Domain Entity Schema
Early Learning > Early Learning Child > Demographic > Rural Residency Status
