According to this reference, the current Laravel 5.8.x has been inactive since August 2020.

I think we should consider migrating to Lravel 6.18.x at least 👍

If this issue is accepted by @hopeseekr, I think I can create related PR and help you to do test for upgrading Laravel framework.
