Two important points we don't yet mention in the documentation (could fit well in "Fundamentals"?):

  • During raster-vector interfacing, if the data are in different projections, we implicitly minimize both the loss of information and computing time by reprojecting the vectors (exact) and not the rasters (approximate which requires re-gridding),
  • Features related to distance (buffer_metric, etc) implicitly use projected CRS to ensure a reliable output.
