The plugin from the official xbmc.org repo does not log me in... It keeps on going back to the settings screen obviously to let me put my password and userID...

It is entered in the settings correctly.

I cannot log in since last week. I guess maybe authentication method was changed.

same issue here using 2-step auth

After removing $HOME/.xmbc(or rename by mv command), I can log in like before but still don't know what the problem is.

It worked for me too. In my case, I am using XBMC in OpenElec and removed $HOME/.xbmc/temp . Tks.
