Hi,

Thank you for the write up and analysis. To help users identify the criticality of this it would be helpful if you:

  • add the list of CVEs from the paper to the github and the date these were released
  • link the CVEs to the official CVE.org and/or Ubuntu CVE databases
  • test this against a more recent version of Ubuntu (24.04 is the latest at time of writing, 22.04 was released Apr 2022)
  • test this after updating the image to the latest patch level. E.g. https://ubuntu.com/security/CVE-2023-21400 has a fix
  • test this against other recent distributions ideally including enterprise linux distributions.
    Regards

I hope, it is also natural to assume, that there are plenty of helpful people, who are not (yet) part of this project & would also take care of some of the tasks, if possible. 🙂
