The Semantic Sensor Network Ontology was developed in a W3C incubator project.

It is now being revised by the W3C/OGC Spatial Data on the Web Working Group for publication as a W3C Recommendation. The ontology includes classes for Sensor, Sensing Device, Platform, Deployment etc.

This ontology is heavily adopted in the research community, so we should either
(i) ensure that the acquisition model in 19115-2 is compatible
(ii) get involved with the SDWWG project to influence it to ensure it matches our requirements.
