I am once again posting a suggestion on the issue tracker. Forgive me, insane96, I know not what I do. What is this?
Several enhanced AI features for Witches. As normal, by default each witch would have a 5-10% chance to spawn with each ability, but could be configured to always or never have these features.
Thirsty Witches
Simple enough, modifies the chance that a witch drinks a potion each tick. A witch with the Thirsty ability has a (configurable) greater chance to drink a relevant potion, up from the default 5%. This would make witches appear seemingly more intelligent and "prepared" by quickly quaffing healing potions, warding off fire, etc.
More Potions
Witches have gained forbidden knowledge of alchemy and can throw the following splash potions at their targets:
Blindness
Hunger
Mining Fatigue
Nausea
Additionally, witches with this feature can quickly throw 2 splash potions, one after the other, each of a different type.
Lingering Potions
Witches with this feature have a chance to throw lingering potions of any splash potion they could normally throw. If the witch also has the More Potions feature, it could throw lingering potions of blindness, hunger, mining fatigue, or nausea as well.
ESM-Inspired Support Buffs
Epic Siege Mod allowed witches to automatically buff nearby hostile mobs with beneficial potion effects. A witch with the Supportive feature would automatically apply temporary buffs to hostile mobs within a configurable radius. For a truly divine level of configuration, the specific potion effects could be configured, but by default it would be something like Swiftness I, Regeneration I, Strength I, and Resistance I for 2-5 seconds. Each witch could spawn with the potential to use all effects, just one, or a random selection - if you like the idea, naturally, the specific implementation would be up to you.
Sneaky Witches
Witches with this feature would drink an Invisibility potion as soon as they gained a target or are attacked.
Inoculated Witches
Witches with this feature would be immune to poison, slowness, weakness, potions of harming, preventing witch-on-witch violence or accidental self-harm with splash or lingering potions. A witch that also has the More Potions feature would also be immune to blindness (relevant for some mods that make blindness properly apply to entities).
Infectious Witches
Witches with this feature could call down a lightning bolt on nearby villagers (with a cooldown), thereby turning the villager into a new witch.
Why?
Witches are fun. Seeing them drink their potions and trying to kill them in the process is fun. Giving the dastardly witches even more ways to wreak havoc on players and villagers, and carrying on the features of the old Epic Siege Mod, create a recipe for fun that any witch would write in her spellbook.
