Do you think that we will ever have a situation where there is more than one .measures column?

Yes, I think that is likely. Two scenarios are (1) a measurement with multiple detectors or (2) multiple measurements of a sample.

An example of (1), consider LC-UV-MS. You might characterize a sample by liquid chromatography (LC) that has ultraviolet spectrometer (UV) and a mass spectrometer (MS).

An example of (2), we might characterize a sample with IR sepctroscopy and NMR (nuclear magnetic resonance).
