Default environment variables can be set for system services and user services with systemd. This package installs hardened malloc but does not enable it due to compatibility issues. Enabling for system services should not be a problem. If a service is affected it can be exempted using a drop in config file. Same goes for user services too. This would make sure that at the very least the vital operating system components are using hardened malloc and are more protected against memory related vulnurabilities.
