In March 2025, we will be having an operations rehearsal where we will run the TMA and AuxTel and check dataflow/processing etc. The ComCam will run in playback mode and we need to simulate a set of images for the test to be preloaded into the camera DAQ.
This is a tracking issue for itemizing what we need to do. Please feel free to add too or modify and respond to the the issue. (CC: @erykoff who isn't in this repo but helped create the requirements).
Create a medium-high stellar density input catalog for simulation. This could be from part of the DC2 stars close to the galactic plane, or from actual positions of an open cluster as measured by DES etc.
Create simulated calibration products
Generate the images. The actual plan depends on future decisions related to the scheduler run etc.
Things we might try:
Per sensor QE (Model sensor-to-sensor QE and PNRU variation #207). The camera model can't tell us this now, but we could try to "Fake" it by modifying things like the gain per CCD if we thought this was important.
Some of the info we need for things like per sensor QE may be in obs_lsst_data. We had discussions before (related to x-talk etc) about how usable this was and if we needed to extract info ourselves.
@erykoff is adding new data to the database, so we may want to discuss this more.
