Due to redistribution restrictions by VMware we are not able to distribute the VDDK with our software, we rely on the user to download it with their VMware account and upload it to the MIQ appliances.

Once this is done there are a set of steps that have to be run to install the libvixDiskLib.so to /usr/lib so that smartstate can use it.

Once the .tar.gz/.zip file is uploaded all of these steps could be automated, possibly by an ansible playbook. Typical steps that are taken are documented in http://talk.manageiq.org/t/smartstate-how-to--correctly--install-vmware-vddk/1048/9
