What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. create a "launcher" shortcut (file with .desktop extension)
2. open it with file browser applet
3. the .desktop file is opened in text editor instead of launching the program

expected output: the same as if opened with gnome file manager

applet version: 0.6.6
gnome version: 2.30.2
os: debian testing

Hi there,

Could you attach the .desktop file in question?

Thanks.

Hi, here is one of them, but it's the same with every shortcut you create.
Thank you very much.

Hi, another clarification: this must be a strange gnome behavior: if you
double-click on the file, the linked program/file is correctly opened, but if
you type "gnome-open xxxx.desktop" it is opened in the text editor.
So maybe this kind of file is something specific to nautilus, and not
recognized at system-level.
Bye
Michele

Hi, excuse me, another "hint". I noticed that those kind of files are
executable scripts (they have x permission), but the app does not execute them,
it opens them in editor. But other executable scripts (being both text files
and executable files) are instead executed. I imagine it's hard to decide when
to execute or to view a file.
Bye and thanks
Michele

Yes, FBA is great because it can be used as an easily managed and shared menu
system.
Yes, using 10.04, I verified that FBA edits your glibc-doc.desktop and Nautilus
executes it.
bertoldia, as they call him, will tell why FBA does not launch a file the same
way as Nautilus.
I usually have no problems with other kinds of shortcuts, though.
To see what's going on inside desktop files, right-click>Scripts>Open w y
favorite text editor
I don't understand why I don't receive any e-mails with these comments.
