The added space could be used for additional buttons, e.g. a button for copying the whole inventory to the library.
I also think you could replace the backpack icon with a pencil (referring more to the "edit" part, prevents confusing it with the survival inventory tab), though I don't know where could you get an icon for that.

That's why it's a backpack :P
I'm currently working on the v1.1 update. A part of it was swapping the offhand for the boots because you can use f to get the offhand item. The settings and clone button is then floating off to the side.
I'm not 100% sure about this. Practically, it's awesome, room for all the buttons full access, but visually it just looks kinda meh.
After I release v1.1, I'll play around with it again
Thinking about this again, probably the best way to add all the slots without too much blank space, is to replace where the offhand item is now with the boots and put it on a physically detached slot (like how it's detached from the hotbar)
