This project primarily serves as a learning sample for Federation. It doesn't really have production needs beyond that. What we want to prioritize is the ease of cloning, installing, and starting this repository so that it just works for everyone. I think if we used local file databases like node-localstorage it would make the project more accessible to everyone. Currently each services uses different databases. Some use mongo, others use redis. That is neat and all, it shows that each service gets to decide which tech to implement, but it complicates things for beginners.
