Installed motion from Ubuntu Jammy's package repos. Using it under current-user account instead of system-wide root account.
I want file and directory configuration options to be home-rooted dirs, but I don't want them to be a hardcoded the user's home dir, as it's not portable. While configuring motion, neither $HOME nor ~ get expanded, but just used literally.
I've checked also all the "%" expansion placeholders, but nothing there for home, which would also be an option, perhaps.
