Introduction

A Simple authentication (public/protected) routes with Nextjs 14 using spring boot web security default settings.

Usage

  1. add SPRING_BOOT_HOST in .env
  2. customize login form at (api)/login/form.tsx

How?

api() wraps nextjs fetch() with SPRING_BOOT_HOST

login form proxy the request to spring boot api and save the JSSSIONID cookie in the browser.

we reuse the JSESSIONID cookie in the browser to authenticate the request to spring boot api.

if server components does not use api() to fetch data, it is then public and not protected. otherwise, it is a protected server component and api() will redirect unauthenticated users to /login.

This is a Next.js project bootstrapped with create-next-app.

Getting Started

First, run the development server:

npm run dev
# or
yarn dev
# or
pnpm dev
# or
bun dev

Open http://localhost:3000 with your browser to see the result.

You can start editing the page by modifying app/page.tsx. The page auto-updates as you edit the file.

This project uses next/font to automatically optimize and load Inter, a custom Google Font.
