Version Multibit HD 0.5.1
OS: Mac OS Sierra 10.12.5

How to repeat this bug:

Set a custom fee in Preferences -> Fees
Drag the bar and set it to 0.00075 BTC/KB
Send a transaction
It shows the fee is 0.0075

Expected:
Fee is 0.0075 * transaction size (<1kb), not 0.0075 BTC
