Multibit version 0.5.17 #808
Comments
I have the solution
Op di 12 jan. 2021 om 15:28 schreef 65bert73 <[email protected]>
… All,
Since the beginning of 2014 I have a problem accessing my protected wallet
in Multibit (version 0.5.17). At this time there is an amount of 2.439 BTC
stored in my wallet and it cannot be opened due to password failures. I'm
100% sure that the correct password is used, but no luck.
Who of you guys/girls can help me with retrieving the bitcoins. I'm
willingly to donate 0.5 to whom who can help me retrieving the BTC's.
Hope to here from one of you and hoping to give the 0.5 to whom can help
me.
Regs, Felix

Date is not available, sorry man. |
first off al you need some tools
1 x usb stick from 8 or 16 gig who is empty
1 x different pc or laptop because you need to take out the hard disk
off the laptop and you need to connect it with a cable sata to usb2 this
is the only right methot to find the deep hidden deleted recovery file .
you need to instal on the second pc or laptop the program recuva pro or the
latest vers .
it is possible that you also must instal the program get data back ntfs
inb my case it nwas not needed .
than you must run recuva in DEEEEP search and this can take 24 / 48 hours
if you have done this get back to me

Yep, I'm using OSX everywhere, except for the machine with Recuva. This is a W10 Miner with a lot of GPU's. Getting some extra Ethereum :) . If Recuva is the right tool, we will see the results, when the OSX disk decryption process has finished and analyzed in my W10 machine. The decryption process will still take more than one day. I think more time is needed, but no rush. Wallet is inaccessible for a long time and actually I had already decided for myself that I wouldn't be able to access it. When it’s gone, it’s gone, but this is the last try. If this doesn’t work, the wallet and associated key will be destroyed. Keep you posted with the status. |
Update: Came to the conclusion that the current OSX disk is NOT the original one where the wallet was made on. The disk was an 7200RPM disk and it has been replaced with a SSD disk. I still have the "old" RPMdisk, but it has been overwritten many times. Please advice. |
this is the only working option for you ! !
only the disk where you first created multibit wallet is the one you can
use
over writing is not a problem ! !
can you plz look what is the disk type ( partition table ) fat ?? fat
16??
you can use the tool easeus partition tool it is windows and ios compatible

I have so many 3,5"old disks here. The only thing I'm sure about that it was a 500GB disk. This one is connected to the W10 machine. It has been overwritten multiple times with Windows and Linux versions. Is it then still possible to retrieve the old files? UPDATE: |
bro, I can help in this. let me try to fix it for you. contact my whatsapp or signal via +60123592535 |
You can also drop me an email @ [email protected] |

Is there a specific file to look for on the medium?

Download a bitcoin lite wallet (not litecoin) and replace wallet.dat and the key file with the ones you have. try that and get back to me |
When searching using Google, no exact match is found regarding bitcoin lite wallet. Many variations of litecoin wallets are available, but none described in your post. If you could point me into the right direction, it would be appreciated. Thx, Felix. |
That method will not work, as you have an encrypted aes multibit classic key. (Alternatively you can send me your private key in an encrypted email (tutanota or protonmail) and a bitcoin address you would like it sent too, for a fee of 40% of contents. if i am successful) Upto you! 60% of something is better than 100% of nothing! |
bro no he is just trying to scam you. also, he needs the wallet.dat as well to do anything. you can do all that he will try to do yourself and you will get 100% of something. |
do what i was saying before about replacing the key and wallet.dat files, but with multibit. then, open the wallet console and dumpwallet to get the 12-word mnemonic. |
As mentioned before, can you point me into the direction with a wallet name for OSX or Windows (which and were to get from the internet) |
multibit. Use multibit legacy. |
Hi Again and thx for your time. Please also supply link to the legacy version. Got locally stored installable versions 4.17 till 5.17. |
this repository. |
|
also, you can do what you did before but brute-force the password, trying millions of combinations until you get the right one. |
try using this if all else doesn't work https://github.com/gurnec/btcrecover |

Got no clue ho to compile stuff. Not my area, sorry |
k, try using https://github.com/gurnec/btcrecover |
Used it, no luck. Tried to crack file with 8 GPU's, will take a looooong time to get there. BTW, got Multibit HD version 0.5.1 running on a Windows machine. Any suggestions? otherwise, Think I'll close the topic, there is no solution to get the 2.43 Btc back. Lost forever. |
k, could you email me the key and wallet.dat, and maybe what you remember of the password? ill try to passively crack it over the next few months and ill tell you if and when i crack it |
my (alt) email address is [email protected] |
make sure to pgp encrypt it: xsBNBGApcq8BCADr94emGGvMx8RW5E3R73Qq/ZQVRxMn0CPptgt0OabIBiUcria3 |
Hi @65bert73, I had exactly the same problem as you with the wallet set up on 2013-12-31 using the old multibit classic wallet and I have already lost hope as you do. After many days and hundreds of attempts, I was able to find a solution. In the meantime, I also built every kind of multibit anew, but without achieving anything in this way - there is a very big problem with dependencies in this project after so many years, and you can work on it for weeks without results, because you cannot run unit tests correctly during building. In my opinion, it is impossible to run it correctly and use it to load the wallet after so many years, so I based all the work on decoding the encrypted key. Reading the comments above, I can see that most people do not have a complete idea of what is going on and there is no point in following this path. If the password to the .key file is correct, I am sure that we will be able to decode it together, especially since our wallets were created in a similar period on the same software. My suggestion to make it safe is to set up a teleconference using zoom / skype / google hangouts etc., which option you choose yourself. I don't want any files from you or try to cheat you. I came across this thread because I struggled with the problem for a long time and looked wherever possible. Yesterday late at night I managed to solve the problem and read the multibit decrypted key to Electrum. If you are interested in cooperation, please contact me via [email protected]. I think it can be successful, or we can at least try ;) Finally, for confirmation, a screenshot of my recovered wallet with the date of the first transaction |
Don't know if you still have this, but I will be your best shot at actually recovering this. Let me know. discord: fordy# 0959 no space |
I think I can help you. Send me a message on my telegram, let's work on it together. +18122506732 |
Dont do it he will try to scam you |
Why do you think I'll do that ? Have I tried to scam you before now ? You don't mess me up in public because of your insecurities man. Get a hold of yourself!!! |
Anyone who tries to get you to contact them on telegram/whatsapp/etc. is very likely a scam. Not saying 100% but very likelySent from my iPhoneOn Aug 6, 2022, at 3:16 PM, Amobi Michael Onyedikachi ***@***.***> wrote:

i have a trick for gaining back to multibit |
This is the necessary files to recover. you can contact: https://btc2doge.org/multibit-hd-wallet-seed-words-not-work/ stephen recovered my doge wallet. |
If you still have the files, https://btc2doge.org/ can recover it with a 95% chance. |
the btc still there, this means you did not resolve it. https://btc2doge.org/ can help if you still have the files. you only need tip him a share after succeed. the bruteforce way wont work as there is a bug in the old multibit wallet encryption. this means even you have the correct password, there is still chance got locked due to the bug. |
