Currently, it will create "tun" as the interface name, and has no related options which can be used to change this name, which can cause conflicts and inconvenience.

what openvpn version are you using? is it the openvpn3-linux client?
have you tried with dev-name mydevice?

I'm using ovpncli binary.

This is a known artefact in the Core library. Normally using dev mydevice together with dev-type tun is used to rename interfaces, but I don't recall if that works with the traditional tun devices in Core library. It works with ovpn-dco interfaces though.
