Currently, the annotation tool is not accessible from the block. However, it would be useful if we could somehow give students and teachers access to it if they want to use it for teaching.
We could achieve this using ACLs and LTI. However, since we want to reduce the usage of LTI, another solution would be better.
The university of Cologne adapted the annotation tool so that the Ilias plugin can handle the authentication of users. Something similar would be desirable for the Moodle plugin because it makes the access control easier. However, since the adaption of the annotation tool was not integrated upstream we have to think about another possibility or try to get an integration accepted.
