y-z slices in 3D

for 3D boxes, how can we add y-z slice plots?

This shouldn't be terribly difficult to do. But it would require a lot of small changes to support it in all the different plots and quite a bit of time finding and squashing all the bugs. Definitely not in scope for me at this time.
