The converted youtube links do not work as embeds in Discord, it only shows the URL. Assuming it did work, can you explain what the "improvement" is supposed to be in using this over normal youtube links?

if it doesn't embed it's probably because the instance doesn't work anymore, try to find other instances and add it as custom in the plugin option like this for example : https://inv.nadeko.net/watch?v={{videoId}}

As for its utility, it was supposed to skip ads, show metadata of the video or make better title, but those parameters no longer work unfortunately (except skipping ads).

Same, broke my youtube links to 'bounce' to a github.. (until I deleted plugin; 3rd link in pic)

When clicking 'any' youtube link I tried to share, (except the 3rd in pic) it went to a repo for the youtube-embed >> https://github.com/ray-1337/youtube-discord-embed

You don't have to delete the entire plugin, you can just disable the youtube part by toggling "enabled conversion" temporarily until it's fixed.

Or like I said use another instance as custom to make it work, this instance https://inv.nadeko.net/watch?v={{videoId}} seems to be working.

To be fair I don't have any control over those services, the only purpose of this plugin is to use them and auto convert links, nothing else, that's why I've added a custom host so if there's problem with the default hosts you can switch easily and put your own.
