Hi Folyd,
|
Hi, @LCrossman. Thanks for your great questions.
Yes, I think this is also the most important job of the editorial team. Personally, I think Rust Magazine has several differences from TWiR.
Currently Rust Magazine is an unofficial project. I will post a statement on README. However, I will be seeking email newsletter sponsorship from the Rust Foundation and hope to turn it into an official magazine if possible.
Rust Magazine was built by zine. Although zine is my personal project, I received Project Grants from the Rust Foundation. I'll keep maintaining it.
Yes, I totally agree that we should start smaller. My initial plan for the first issue is at most 10 articles. I will do my best to call for articles from the community. I'll also write one or more articles myself. I hope the first issue is a good starting point. Hoping we can get more than 5 articles. Sure, it's fine if we can't make it. |
Hi! I'm quite intereted in the editor thing. What is the qualification needed for being an editor? I do have some experience with Rust, but not much on writing and editing. |
Hi George, I don't think there is anything specific, I am on the editorial board of scientific journal "Antibiotics", with a lot of other people. I used to organise a regular column in a scientific journal but that was a while ago. I know a bit of Rust and publish manuscripts where possible for open access. It might be good to decide what we really wouldn't include - like gossip and anything that would break Rust code of conduct? |
Hey guys, interested in joining as Editor. While still newbie in #rust I’ve got quite some years with other programming languages and other type of experience. What’s the process please, and thank you for consideration. |
It's great that there are getting to be more editors - should we have a table/google form somewhere with a few things like level of Rust knowledge, other languages knowledge, human languages knowledge, other skills that editors can fill in themselves? |
Good consideration, thanks @LCrossman. Maybe we can do it latter? |
Hi @Folyd |
Great! Welcome to the editorial team. I'm looking forward to working with you. |
Hi @Folyd I am interested in helping out for reviewing the writings and proof reading. |
Hi @Folyd , I founded two print magazines and was chief editor in the past. As a chief editor, I was responsible for coordinating the authors and planning the main focus of each issue. I would be grateful to join the team and contribute as an author and editor. Cheers |
Wow great! I'm so happy to welcome you two to join us. Our editorial team will be stronger than ever. Especially, we need people with magazine experience like @malagant. |
Rust Magazine is maintained by Rustaceans from all around the world, currently, we still need Rustaceans to join us as the editor team. If you have interested, don’t hesitate to let us know. Feel free to comment below.
We are supposed to deliver issue monthly, each issue should include at least 10 articles, what an editor's responsibility is:
