It should be possible to configure MathQuill to recognize any Unicode character in the graphing calculator. I've already been able to get Desmos to recognize emojis as variables by using the bindVanillaSymbol function in the MathQuill source code. For example, this feature would allow users to use characters from the Hebrew and Sanskrit alphabets, which occasionally assume mathematical significance, in their graphs. It could also perhaps be used to introduce algebra to kids with "fruit math" through Desmos (e.g. if 🍎 + 🍎 = 2$, find the price of 🍎).
