On many systems, you can type Unicode characters this way:

Press and hold the Alt key a.k.a. Option key.

Type + and the Unicode character hexadecimal code, such as +241f for Unit Separator.

Release the Alt key a.k.a. Option key.
On Apple macOS, you may need to do a one-time setup:

Go to System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Input Sources.

Click on + button, select "Others" -> "Unicode Hex Input" and press "Add". (End of one-time)

Switch to the Unicode Hex Input in the menu bar.

Hold down the Option key and type the hexadecimal unicode value, then release the Option key.
