I didn't even know my TAS was accepted

We might want to invest in an enhancement to avoid this.
One way would be to give the authors some kind of notification whenever a submission of theirs change their status.

Things to work out:

  • When should the user be notified? (Maybe going from Accepted to Publication Underway is not too important for a notification)
  • How should the user be notified? (Email or Private Message or others)
  • Is it configurable? (Always-on or Opt-in/Opt-out)

IMHO,

  • Regarding When, personally the following status changes are important enough for notification:

    • New ⇛ Judging Underway (Debatable)

    • Judging Underway ⇛ Accepted/Rejected/Cancelled/Delayed/Needs More Info/Playground

    • Needs More Info ⇛ Judging Underway

    • Accepted/Publication Underway ⇛ Published

    • Rejected/Cancelled/Delayed ⇛ New/Judging Underway (Unrejected)

  • Regarding How, I think the same system that we have for forum notification works pretty well. So E-Mail.

  • Same for configuration I guess. Users can "unwatch" their submission if they wish to not receive mails regarding the status changes.
