Checklist

  • I am able to reproduce the bug with the latest version given here: CLICK THIS LINK.
  • I made sure that there are no existing issues - open or closed - which I could contribute my information to.
  • I have read the FAQ and my problem isn't listed.
  • I have taken the time to fill in all the required details. I understand that the bug report will be dismissed otherwise.
  • This issue contains only one bug.
  • I have read and understood the contribution guidelines.

Affected version

v0.27.4

Steps to reproduce the bug

Just keep the app in idle. Possibly while the media controls show on pause? (Not confirmed)

Please see the screenshot below.

Expected behavior

No response

Actual behavior

Screenshots/Screen recordings

Compare the battery use of NewPipe and Firefox. I use Firefox exclusively as a logged in YouTube client, both streaming at 720p, therefore the two apps are 1:1 comparable.

I have no explanation for the two days of background use on NewPipe. I played max. 2h of just audio with the screen off.

Logs

No response

Affected Android/Custom ROM version

Graphene OS 15

Affected device model

Pixel 8a

Additional information

NewPipe has no automatic access to Sensor data on my phone (Speciality of graphene os, simply because it is my default).

I have no channel subscriptions.

I found #11540 (Newpipe searches for new videos in airplane mode, which causes significant battery drain) and now set my feed update threshold to 24 hours.
Even though I have no channel subscriptions.
I will report again if this changed anything.
