Can you please update you Manifesto to state the fact that only LoRaWAN protocol is tolerated from TTN.

I was originally under the impression that the goal is for free and open IoT network to everyone and it is not connected to any specific protocol or implementation, but instead I was suggested to not discus anything related to protocol or any other open and free solution that is NOT LoRaWAN based.

I (as a core team member) also thought that the long-term mission/vision of The Things Network would be to broaden the scope beyond only LoRaWAN, and I'm pretty sure it still is. Right now the focus is on LoRaWAN, and because of that focus we can make the most impact. We couldn't do that if we had to divide our attention over different technologies or protocols. Maybe at some point in the future we can consider adding other technologies to our toolchain. Just not now.

Therefore I don't think we need to change anything in the Manifesto or Mission documents, but maybe @wienke or @johanstokking can clarify this a bit.

We're not tied to LoRaWAN, although that is the (implemented) scope now. The reason the current scope is LoRaWAN is primarily driven by need for focus and limited resources.

Should other technologies fit in the vision and mission of The Things Network and we have resources for that, we would definitely consider adopting that.

Full disclosure; in our 2015 and early 2016 days we aimed for both LoRaWAN and BLE 5 support in our stack. Although we did considerable effort in the V1 and V2 stack, as well as some projects around the stack, we eventually dropped that plan. Since early 2018 Multefire is on our radar, but apart from some high level research the implementation is not on our roadmap. But things are liquid.
