Ah, I never considered this. It does sound worthwhile to adopt a standard that's already in wide use.

JSON Patch is a flat list, while Symmetry currently produces a nested structure. It's definitely possible to transform to JSON Patch as a post-processing step, and I wonder if that's the best option. I'm not sure if reworking the algorithm to produce JSON Patch offers a real benefit to simply post-processing.

Regardless of the outcome of this discussion, I probably won't get around to implementing this myself. 🙃
