Couldn't figure out why for a hot minute but a pal of mine pointed the line of CSS that is causing this. I don't understand why this is set in a media query but perhaps there is a reason. Either way it sucks for anyone using zoom on their browser :) My default zoom level is set to 80%.
@media (-webkit-min-device-pixel-ratio:1),not all,not all,not all, (min-resolution:96dpi)
To simulate, just zoom in/out side of 100% zoom level and the emoji png won't display.
