Also pass the configuration to the software to avoid the need for a config.yml file for end users.

See for example how authentik is recommended to be installed: https://goauthentik.io/docs/installation/docker-compose

Download the latest docker-compose.yml from here. Place it in a directory of your choice.

Next, run the following commands to generate a password and secret key and write them to your .env file:

Inside the docker-compose file, we find patterns such as POSTGRES_PASSWORD: ${PG_PASS:?database password required}.
