From the current and X DfE designers? Like @fofr @paulrobertlloyd @frankieroberto and others.

I personally prefer the above specific design and not the template. But in general the template is extremely versatile and easy to add a CMS onto.

#The DfE design Ops folks use Strapi, but I have seen Forestry.io and even open source versions like NetlifyCMS which ties well with the hosting.

In older attempts we used the GDS way and a lot principles like Tech Architecture https://dfe-digital.github.io/architecture/ and Devs still use variations of the Middleman app for documentation. Now, I am not certain how recent these are or if they're maintained.
