Pinged Carlos Martinez III on LinkedIn to see about getting connected to USDA plans for ROR. He replied:
"We are considering it. Recently, I was tasked with developing a new XSLT to transform MARC into a CrossRef report. I encountered an issue when associating a ROR institution ID with author affiliations. Can the ROR API match an institution name and retrieve its ROR ID? If so, is it possible via XSLT?
I got a JSON response in the resulting file, but unfortunately, I am not yet well-versed enough with XSLT 3.0 to turn it into the valid XML tag that would have contained the ROR ID. I eventually had to submit what I had but put a pin in the idea for future development.
If you have any ideas about this or would like me to put you in contact with someone who may know more about its usage in other parts of the library, please let me know. "
Replied with some tool suggestions and asking if they want to use XSLT for DOI metadata deposit, but no reply.
