Manuscript Manager has been using ROR for author affiliations for about 18 months. The user uses the ROR ElasticSearch to find the ROR ID, and in their experience they get about a 60 / 70% hit rate. The issue is usually not that the ROR ID for that organization doesn't exist, but that the user hasn't found it. They're thinking of using AI to instead match text to ROR IDs.
Andy asked whether ROR is going to remain free: yes. Interested in research integrity -- wondered whether STM Research Integrity Hub is using ROR (not exactly, but they use PaperMill Alarm, which uses ROR). Interested to hear about v2 and that v1 will remain available for a year and about existing affiliation matching tools. Willing to be featured on ROR website and do a case study.
Glad to hear that ORCID uses ROR, also Ringgold. Says that while they're happy with ROR they may be forced to use Ringgold. Interested to hear about ISNI mapping.
4/3/2024 - Emailed Andy Beare to find out more and suggest SSP meetup
Fabienne Michaud reports that per convo with Andy Beare Manuscript Manager is using ROR and happy with it, but they want to know about backfill -- sent her links and contact info to pass on, then sent Andy Beare a LinkedIn request.
