Causes Crash in Vertica 9.0.1

Looks like there's some issue that causes a crash in Vertica 9.0.1

Here is the output from the logs:

This was done using the lates provided Vertica VMWare Image from the site.

I'm afraid it has been a while since I touched this project.
I'll try to get to it, but it might be a while.

If you want to fix it yourself and submit a PR, I'd be happy to take a look

unfortunately, I wouldn't even know where to begin here. :( I haven't touched c++ in over 15 years. haha
