256.bmp is a simple Bitmap file, 256x256, with a 256-color header. It's used to create the header for a bitmap.

While I formerly used it as a template to create graphics to stage for MAPCONV, I was able to tweak MAPCPY so that it could create different-sized bitmaps, and MAPCONV so it could read them in. I still use 256 as a default size, although the dungeon maps for games like Magic Candle and the outside worlds of Demon's Winter or Deathlord went beyond these bounds.

256.bmp isn't the greatest solution, and it's annoying if I forget it, but it's the only way I see to use simple C to track things down.
