Not reconnecting automatically

Hi - I had this working fine for quite some time, and I never had a problem with my host connecting to the slave automatically. Well, that stopped happening - why? Both computers have a static ip address; the host is .100 and the slave is .102. I can connect all relatively quickly by using the tray icon, but why do I have to do this every time all of a sudden? Nothing has changed. Thanks.
