Munin-solr (4, 5)

---

Munin plugin for monitoring a multicore solr 4 and 5 installation via mbean. It calls:

http://localhost:8080/solr/admin/cores?action=STATUS&wt=json

to retrieve cores and

http://localhost:8080/solr/corename/admin/mbeans?stats=true&wt=json http://localhost:8080/solr/corename/admin/system?stats=true&wt=json

to read core data and system stats

Setup:

Copy the plugin file to your munin plugins folder (ex. /usr/share/munin/plugins):

Add the following lines to the munin-node file, usually found in /etc/munin/plugin-conf.d/munin-node, adding one qpshandler for each handler you need to monitor:

[solr4_*]
    env.solr4_host_port solrhost:8080 
    env.solr4_url /solr
    env.solr4_qpshandler_select /select

Example numdoc check on core_1:

ln -s /usr/share/munin/plugins/solr4_.py /etc/munin/plugins/solr4_numdocs_core_1

Before installing the plugins, qps and requesttimes requires aliases to be defined in the munin-node file as from the example on top.

env.solr4_qpshandler_select /select

Example qps using cores autodiscovery:

ln -s /usr/share/munin/plugins/solr4_.py /etc/munin/plugins/solr4_qps_select

Example qps using core name:

ln -s /usr/share/munin/plugins/solr4_.py /etc/munin/plugins/solr4_qps_core_1_select

Core Alias:

Dots has a special meaning when used in munin plugin names. If the core you need to monitor have "." inside you must define a dot-free alias:

env.solr4_coresalias core_1_it:core_1.it core_1_en:core_1.en

Example check:

ln -s /usr/share/munin/plugins/solr4_.py /etc/munin/plugins/solr4_qps_core_1_it_select
