Support for lower android version like 7,8,9,etc

  (There is one issue but its for android 10)
• I've requested a single (only one) feature/change in this issue. It complies with the One Request Per GitHub Issue (ORPGI) rule.
• My issue is well-defined and aligns with the goal of the project.

Description

Please add the support of lower android devices like android 8...storage is not as much of a Hassel newer devices but on older ones.
Try to lower the android sdk api so that the app can be run on older devices.
Most of the open source apps run on lower android version I hope this will append its name to the list too.

I would like to support lower apis, but this requires a lot of permission complexities and workarounds, which I don't have the time to focus on right now. I am keeping this issue open, for anyone willing to contribute.
