In the current version of powercalc it is possible to specify standby power. In addition there is an option to add standby power to the device power when ON.
It would be great to have the option that powercals can create seperate sensors for standby power in addition to device power.
Reason
The benefit an reason behind this feature would be getting an idea for standby power used within ones home. I think it is a very diffent aspect compared to general attribution of power usage of a device and powercalcs great benefit of tracking power usage in rooms, areas or categories (eg. media devices) within ones home. Standby power is critical today by being a major factor of energy usage.
Also, specially for the group of smart switches and similar these devices do not really have an ON state where they themselves change power consumption by being turned on. They basically only have "standby power" because their power consumtion does not change between states themselves but because the controlled device (light etc.) is consuming energy on the ON state.
Implementation idea
I would imagine implementing it in a way that the current setup flow stays the same but in the step where one can decide if the standby power will be added or ignored when a device is ON there would be a checkboy asking to add a seperate standby sensor.
If only
standby_power
is specified this sensor would only increment when the device is not ON. Ifstandby_power_on
is specified the sensor would alway increment.Beta Was this translation helpful? Give feedback.
