Fem (five in swedish) could be a better layout for vertical monitors. Or for ultrawide, i don't know. It would look something like this:
AABB
MMMM
MMMM
MMMM
CCDD
so two families (AB and CD) and one main area (M).
When M has focus, "moving" left/right will toggle AB or CD, moving up/down will move the active window in M to AB/CD.
When A has focus moving left will toggle B, moving up will Hide M and let AB occupy its space, moving right will move the active window in A to B. Moving down will move the active window in A to M.
I will experiment with this before i decide exactly how things will be, but i think it will be easier to do this as a separate script and not bake it in as a new "orientation" option to i3fyra. But maybe that works too.
