Just found out that city did not already go in another direction for something/anything on presence for the Quantrill sesquicentennial in mid August and I either need to tell them to do that or see if we can't get something/anything working by then. Worst case it could really only be just one building, like the Eldridge, though obviously it's harder to get all the pieces in place to do a single building than it is to get lots of buildings to an intermediate point of development. Ideally also including the ability to read a lat/long to pick the building.

While that seems like such a short window for what we're trying to accomplish, my gut feeling for this is to seize the opportunity to find a away to get some reduced form of it available because the spotlight would probably never be greater than then for it in terms of partnering with the city, as the mayor would actually announce it as part of the whole Sesquicentennial event, people would be encouraged to use it, so forth. It seems like that could be very powerful in terms of getting more help and funding to scale it up to the more finished product and also to enhance the portfolio- building aspect of it in that it will be profiled in such a manner.

We should probably talk about this soon. But at the least, and regardless of time track, if you would provide me with a simple blurb that I could use to also broadcast a request to find someone to start working on the front end with us (maybe suggesting that Rails skills and interest in history and particularly Lawrence history would be ideal but not a deal breaker and that other environments could be used - better to use your description, though) then I could help recruit as well.
