Not too much is known about how to replicate this bug, and it has yet to be replicated consistently in development. Below are general guidelines to what causes this, described by several users:

  1. It seems to only occur for first-time players, usually within the first several hours of playing, progressing and spending shiny.

  2. When they close the game, and return, everything is reset. Buildingdata in the database is back to default, along with all other fields. It seems the entire record is reset, as if they started a new account. It is unsure whether this is a client or server side bug.
