This may need to be an epic.

We deliberately disabled dark mode because of issues with styles & branding, most noticeable in screenshots and SVGs.

  1. Confirm styles & branding remain "on brand" with dark background.
  2. When in dark mode, swap screenshots to a dark background, if available.
  3. Confirm contrast is still acceptable for our accessibility goals.

Revisiting this issue - we have some text that does not flip to white when dark mode is enabled. This includes the text on the homepage hero and some diagrams, like the complex gateway in the BPMN docs.

If there is a low-effort, quick fix for most of these known or obvious items, we could enable dark mode and fix it as we get feedback on specific issues.
