Steps to reproduce

I've been trying to get on the ubuntu.com matrix instance. I've followed the instructions written here: https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/synchronous-communication-with-matrix/39535

Outcome

SAML always fails with an error message in this picture

I have the same problem.

I do also note that the post references chat.ubuntu.com but Synapse appears to be running at chat-server.ubuntu.com, in case this is a canonical URL issue...

Nhaines, Tylnesh, and Fenris are all members of the Launchpad group Ubuntu Members, therefore should be allowed to use SSO on the ubuntu.com Matrix instance during this stage of testing.

There may be some mismatch in the URL that the SAML expects. We're using ubuntu.com as the server URL for the matrix client, but Ubuntu One mentions chat-server.ubuntu.com as the requested service. Just to be sure, I've tried using that URL as well, but still no progress.

@tylnesh @fenris @nathanhaines We changed settings to fix the issue, could you please try and login with SAML again and share the result?
