Are you aware of any applications that people have developed using this library? Development of note taking apps seems nonexistent, surprisingly.

Hi @Evidlo,

I have heard about the development of some Terminal and VNC applications but I am not aware of any active ambitious projects creating a note taking app using libremarkable. It would be great, though and I would support such a project. Let me know if you are interested and I could point you to the right direction.

I've been thinking about what features such an application might provide over xochitl. Xochitl does a very good job at scribing, but there are areas where we could improve:

  • export via email without remarkable cloud (via SMTP server)
  • tagging pages in a notebook - use these tags to generate an index for jumping to certain pages
  • moving content between pages/notebooks

This plato fork might be a good place to start. At the very least you'd get PDF and epub rendering for free.

I definitely agree. I am here to provide any help necessary if anyone wants to take on these tasks.

And yes, darvin has a great fork of plato that you linked to, which we had discussed in the past.

See these closed issues: #9 and #7.

@Evidlo : I would love to port KOReader to the remarkable. I know is not exactly a notes app, but another good open reader alternative.

Sadly I don't have the hardware to do it myself, but I'm here to help if someone wants to try. AFAICT most of the information to add support to the remarkable was documented by @canselcik in the wiki.

I have a reMarkable. Anyone want to show me how to run a local terminal session using this framebuffer API?

I'm also interested in the mentioned Terminal app. Where can I find it?

Hey we should add all this to the README with a note encouraging people to add their own projects as well :)
