Hi,

I hope that this is the correct place for the issue. If not, please give me a hint whom I should contact instead. If you need more details, don't hesitate to ask.

We recently got a system with 2 Cavium Thunder X2 CN9975 processors and installed Ubuntu 18.04 (LTS). We see the following issue:

  • With the default 4.15.0-54-generic kernel, cpufreq is working, and idle power consumption is at 193 W
  • With 5.0.0-20-generic kernel, cpufreq is NOT working, and idle power consumption is at 239 W
  • With a vanilla 5.2.0 kernel, cpufreq is NOT working, and idle power consumption is at 239 W
@rschoene rschoene changed the title cpufreq not working under Linux 5.0/5.2, probably due to missing dts cpufreq not working under Linux 5.0/5.2 Jul 12, 2019

@rschoene Did you ever find a solution for this? I'm also dealing with this issue.

@s1341 unfortunately, no. I kind of gave up on this platform having not enough time and with missing support.
